Noun: a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Our name means "best for women" and that's what we strive to be - women at our best, investing in other women and girls to be their best.

Soroptimist Desert Tucson is a service club of women volunteers helping disadvantaged Tucson women and teen girls complete their education. We focus on education because it is recognized as the most effective path for empowering women to advance socially and economically. With education, we can create better lives for ourselves, our families and our communities. Our goal is to help make that possible for more Tucson women.

Our Tucson club is part of a global non-profit organization of about 75,000 women volunteers making Dreams possible in more than 120 countries around the world. Learn more about how Soroptimist helps women worldwide.

Helping Tucson Women for Over 40 Years

Soroptimist Desert Tucson - Then

For the first 40 years, Tucson Soroptimists stayed in the background and primarily raised money for local organizations with programs serving women and girls. We've aided women dealing with domestic violence, sex trafficking, addiction, homelessness and much more. We provided seed money for several well-known Tucson non-profits and volunteered with these programs. For example, our last big donation was $50,000 to YWCA's Y-Works program.

Soroptimist Desert Tucson - Now

In recent years, Soroptimist Desert Tucson has shifted focus to funding and growing our own Dream Programs for women and girls! We're working to get the word out about who we are and the work we do. We are "Women Joined in Service Through Friendship". We hope you check us out and join us in our mission as a club member or supporter.
